ROUND 3
So today I met with my doctor. She is a funny little Chinese lady...short...broken English....poor eyesight. She walked right in and said "your tumors are not shrinking...however they are not growing either." She gave me the option of changing the chemo recipe to a less proven cocktail. She told me the formula I am on is the most potent and has the best success rate. We decided to stick it out for another two rounds and then do another scan. If nothing changes after another two rounds, then they may stop and try to perform surgery on the big tumor which is blocking the blood flow from my legs. As far as the lung tumors go, well.....we hope they have stopped growing because they are dead.
After meeting with my doctor at 9 a.m I tried to get a room so I could start my treatment, but all the beds were full. I hung out in Salt Lake with my parents for the day killing time and waiting for a room to open up. We went to lunch at the Red Iguana. The Tacos Don Ramone were the prefect last supper. We came back to the hospital to see if a room had opened up. Still nothing. We camped out in the lobby for three more hours until finally one of the nurses came out and told me a room was available. The bad new, is that it was too late to order any chemo so now I won't be home until Monday.
My new room (4522) has no cell phone coverage so you have to call 587-4522 to get a hold of me.

Thanks for the update, Drew. That picture must describe it perfectly. I hope this next round shows more progress for you. You were talking about "white trash" at Lagoon? You need to read a post that I put on from June called "The end of the Carnival Road"
Wahoo Drew! Prayers are answered, I consider "not shrinking and not growing" to be a pretty profound statement, no?! Hang in there, I would have opped for Enchilada Suizas at the Red Iguana, but that's me!! Glad you still have your terrific sense of humor! Hugs to you buddy (be sure to post photos of any of the crafts you may have already completed from your "got crafts" carton)!!
Hey Drew! Long time no talk! I just talked to Shand and he told me about your situation and I wanted to write to tell you that I am so sorry and I will pray for you! I am in absolute shock!!! I don't know if you heard that my daughter was diagnosed with cancer last year, so I can relate a little bit. Your comment about how cancer opens your eyes to a whole new world is so true! It forces you to look at options in your life you never would have imagined other wise. It also allows you to feel the atonement of Jesus Christ in a very real and powerful way! My life will never be the same...luckily she is done with chemo and so far it has not come back. We are very lucky. I am so glad to hear that they are not growing! Hopefully it is just going to take a little bit longer for the stubborn things to shrink. It sounds like you have amazing support! I saw that documentary you talked about. It is so powerful, and it testifies of how powerful the human spirit is and the will to live is. You are an amazing person with an amazing attitude. I found that so much of what my little family went through was just as much for others around us as it was for us. People really shine in moments like these. The out pouring of love and support, I am sure, is overwhelming. We have to go to Primary's on Monday for Haley to get an xray and ultasound to make sure her's has not returned. MAybe we can come visit if you are still there and are up to seeing us. MAybe you can email me if so...shmatha@hotmail.com 949-4589. I will pray for you and you keep on fighting!!!!
